More Stuff About Car Parks

Posted by almax on May 17, 2008

This is with reference to Schindler’s Lift below.

I thought I’d write to National Car Parks Limited (NCP) about Thursday’s debacle, since they are the operators of the car park (though no doubt the lifts are ‘contracted out’).

It took me approximately 2.4 seconds to find their web-site, by the simple expedient of typing ‘NCP’ into Google.

Once on the web-site it took me a further 3.7 seconds to locate the Greenside Car park, by the simple expedient of clicking the button marked ‘Find a Car park’ and craftily typing in ‘Edinburgh’, instantly yielding the information that there’s an NCP car park at Greenside Place, Greenside Row, Edinburgh
EH1 3AA. Hmmmm? Could that be it??

In these circumstances, one wonders why the entire staff employed by NCP at their so-called ‘emergency line’ took well over an hour to work out where we were, with the only limited clues being that we were in Greenside Car Park, Edinburgh, Scotland.

But without a post code, apparently……………

They could have tried looking up their own web-site and found it in seconds.

Anyway, I’ve written them this charming letter on their site -

Dear Sir

On Thursday night, 15 May 2008, I and 3 others were trapped in a lift in the car-park at Greenside, Edinburgh for one and a half hours, as a result of which, apart from the fear and panic, I missed the first half hour of a concert I was going to at the Playhouse nearby. I have written an account of what occurred on my weblog here -

I would like your comments on the foregoing, and your proposals for compensating me for the fear, panic, and inconvenience caused along with the loss of half an hour of a concert I paid £40 to see.

I’ll keep you posted, readers, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.
